A 1,400 THB deposit locks in your chosen date and is subtracted from the total price on the day of your session.
You are welcomed by the master at our Bophut (Fisherman's Village area) studio (or collected for the temple tour). A 15-minute conversation finalises your Yant, dimensions and placement.
The master hand-pokes your Yant using a sterile khem sak or sak lek needle, reciting the Khata mantra throughout to awaken its protective power.
You depart with an aftercare kit, written healing guidance in English, and the full Khor Ham (post-tattoo observances) so you can honour the spirit of your Yant.
Our studio is located within Bophut Fisherman's Village, a short stroll from the waterfront in Bophut (Fisherman's Village area). We welcome guests from every corner of Koh Samui, and the temple tour extends to affiliated samnaks in the surrounding rural areas.
Guests make their way to us from all over the island and the broader Koh Samui area, including:
Everything our clients ask us on WhatsApp, answered in plain, straightforward English.
Absolutely. A brand-new sterile khem sak or sak lek needle is used for every client and unsealed in front of you. Ink is freshly poured per session, the master wears gloves throughout, and the workspace is fully disinfected between appointments.
Sak Yant is a genuine tattoo and is permanent. Like any tattoo it can be faded through laser treatment, however doing so is regarded as disrespectful to its sacred significance. We always encourage careful reflection before booking.
Yes, without reservation. The great majority of our clients are international visitors, and many follow no Buddhist practice. What is essential is sincere respect for the tradition. The master will explain the meaning behind your chosen Yant and what it calls of you.
Yes, women are fully welcomed at our studio. During the temple tour the Ajarn monk follows traditional protocol: a cloth is positioned to prevent direct skin contact, yet the tattoo and Khata blessing proceed in exactly the same way.
A small single Yant begins at 3,400 THB; widely chosen designs such as Hah Taew, Gao Yord or Paed Tidt range from 4,700 THB to 7,400 THB; large or bespoke Southern Thai pieces are 8,800 THB–12,200 THB. The all-inclusive temple tour is 11,800 THB.
Hah Taew (5 lines) covers protection, charisma and good fortune; Gao Yord (9 spires) acts as the universal guardian; Paed Tidt shields you across 8 directions of travel; Suea (twin tigers) speaks to warriors and strength of character. The master will recommend what aligns with your current life stage during your consultation.
Most clients describe the sensation as an intense scratching feeling — uncomfortable rather than overwhelming. Smaller designs take 20–30 minutes; larger pieces take longer, though the steady rhythm of the chanting helps you settle in. Healing tends to be quicker than with a machine tattoo.
Placement is decided together with the master. The core principle is that sacred imagery — particularly Yants depicting Buddha or deities — must sit above the waist and never on the lower body or feet. We will guide you with care and respect.
Most Sak Yants heal fully within 7–14 days. We provide an aftercare kit with balm and written instructions in English: keep the area clean and dry on the first day, apply balm lightly, and avoid pools, the ocean and prolonged sun exposure until healed.
The Khor Ham are precepts you take on to keep your Yant spiritually 'alive'. Common examples include refraining from harming others, not speaking badly of your parents, and avoiding certain foods such as star-shaped fruits. You receive the full written list specific to your Yant at the close of your session.
Our principal master spent an initial 7 years training at a Southern Thai samnak and has accumulated over 18 years of tattooing under recognised Ajarns connected to the Surat Thani / Nakhon Si Thammarat tradition. He continues his studies with senior masters to this day.
Yes, every session includes the Khata mantra recited by the master as the Yant is being tattooed. This is what activates its protective energy and is inseparable from our practice — it is never an optional extra or an additional charge.
A tip is gratefully received but never expected — our prices are all-inclusive. If you wish to leave something extra, 200–500 THB is customary, or you may bring a small traditional offering such as flowers, incense or cigarettes. We will explain the options on the day.
During high season (November–February) we suggest booking 2–4 weeks in advance. At other times of year, a few days' notice is generally sufficient. The 1,400 THB deposit confirms your slot and is applied against your final total.
Both are genuinely authentic. The Bophut (Fisherman's Village area) studio is quicker, more comfortable and well suited to briefer stays. The temple tour is longer, more spiritually immersive, and involves an Ajarn monk and traditional offerings — the right choice if you seek the fullest possible experience.
